                                                                 NO VACCINATIONS

     To vaccinate or not to. This is a question that has led to many an argument over the years. After taking extensive courses in human anatomy and physiology, my understanding of the way a body actually works has led me to completely change my way of thinking. I no longer am “okay” with injecting high doses of toxic material into my precious babies. I do not judge those that choose to follow in the common practice, but I do not condone this behavior in my own home. This subject is heavily weighted and can easily become a heated discussion much like religion and politics. I do not believe in pointing fingers or putting my nose in other’s business. I would just like to give the reasons that I choose to stray from the normal way. Please make an educated decision before just agreeing to the routine practices.
     First off let me begin by giving the definition of what a vaccination is. Stated by Wikipedia, a vaccination is the administration of antigenic material to stimulate adaptive immunity to a disease. Basically what this is saying, is that artificially you are taking a chemically created form of the disease you wish not to contract, mixing it with other elements and injecting it directly through your skin straight into your bloodstream. Your body is getting no warning, no time to prepare for the massive battle. All of a sudden your immune system has been attacked while everything was in perfect harmony. Blindsided you internally go to war.
     Your immune system is a beautiful thing when working properly. The first line of defense a body has to pathogens (disease causing microbes) is the skin, fur and mucous membranes. With a vaccine, you are bypassing this entire front line of armor. Each body is born into the world with antibodies, a protein that is specifically designed to fight off and destroy a certain harmful substance. In theory a vaccine sounds pretty remarkable. Taking a little bit of a disease and putting it into a body to help create more antibodies against the desease, so that if you ever are encountered with the real thing, you will have created an army strong enough to fight it off completely. Unfortunately, it realistically isn’t that simple. What we are doing to our pets, baby kittens and puppies is a little more involved and potentially doing much more harm than good. We take a pure body at a young age and inject them with multiple “illnesses” all at once. We strangely accept the fever, loss of apetite, lethargy and diarrhea. After leaving the vets office we are warned to keep a watch out for any signs of serious reactions. Hmmm, this sounds like not such a good thing, doesn’t it? No! Animals have survived from the beginning of time with just there own immune system as their primary and only source of protection. What a concept. Yes, of course in the wild you hear that “only the strong survive.” This may be true of our own perfectly pampered pets as well. Just because we vaccinate doesn’t mean that our pet will be healthy and never get sick. Many vaccinated pets die way before their time due to vaccinations, and an unfit diet. Yet that is a whole different topic.
     As for my own cats and kittens I can speak from true and real experience. Before becoming a breeder I rescued countless kittens off of the street. They were abandoned, scared, malnourished, unsocialized creatures craving for survival. How can a litter of kittens born in the dead of winter under a bush with nothing but their unfed mama to care for them possibly survive? Not just survive, but actually thrive! How can a litter of kittens with purebred expensive parents born into only the absolute ideal environment die?! Constant advice, surveillance and care from highly trained veterinarians ….just die?! There is a time and a place for medical intervention, absolutely!! But, when it comes to vaccinations, you really have to weigh the pros and cons. Really and truly research and think about it. Not just agree that it’s protocol. …wonder why a 2 pound kitten would get the same dosage as a 15 pound adult cat? …wonder how a kitten could tolerate multiple diseases in one vaccine?? …wonder why after all that a yearly “booster” is still required? In my eyes I see an immune system malfunction occurring. It is confused and unprepared for how to deal with the complete and utter shock! A very real truth about vaccines is the fact that they are causing “VAS” Vaccine Associated Sarcomas. This is a cancer that is actually caused by the vaccine! New approaches are being taught to veterinarians informing them to now give shots in legs instead of between the shoulder blades. They say that it’s “much easier to amputate a leg than a head! Well, those are comforting words of wisdom!
     I am very aware of the possible “outbreaks” that could occur due to the fact that my cats and kittens are not being artificially injected with bits and pieces of diseases that most would never encounter in a lifetime. I do all that I can, naturally to build the immune system of my kittens. I see no sense in using a shot as a means to prevent certain diseases with the way that I raise my pets. It takes a lot of work, time and dedication to create a fully developed healthy immune system. Growing up naturally and holistically tends to create a better all around defense system in the adult cat. Not to say they will never become ill, because any living and breathing thing can and will become sick at some point in time. I just believe that a good foundation creates a better means to fight off what is not meant to be there.
     I could go on and touch on each and every illness known to cats and kittens, yet I feel that this information is the foundation of it all. I do the very best I can for each kitten born into my home. Choosing to not vaccinate has nothing to do with money. After all it is more expensive to rear up kittens naturally and homeopathically. It requires a lot of dedication and one on one bonding with each and every individual animal here. You have to be very in tune with the normal things each one does on a daily basis. Anything that seems off kilter is detected here probably before our animals even know they are feeling a bit “off.” So please understand that this important decision has come with much consideration and education on both ends of the spectrum. I do understand why people do vaccinate and I certainly do not think ill of them. Yet if after reading this you still are for vaccines please follow a couple important rules:

                                                               1.NEVER allow a sick or highly stressed pet to be vaccinated.
                                                               2.NEVER allow a pet to be vaccinated at time of spay or neuter.
                                                               3.NEVER give multiple vaccines at once.
                                                               4.Find out which vaccines are actually required by law in your area.
